National Day of Remembrance and Action - Dec 6 2020
Pam Patterson & Leena Raudvee as ARTIFACTS and WIAprojects invited feminists nationwide to come together on zoom with us at 6 PM on Dec 6, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, to remember the 14 women who were murdered 31 years ago in 1989. They were targeted because they were women in a male-dominated profession and because they were women identified as feminists. We gathered together in solidarity against the rampant misogyny and violence against women that continues still in 2020, and to witness and honour women who have strived, and continue to thrive, in study, through creation, and for action especially those in schools, colleges, and universities. We held a place for them and each other in ritual, in grief, in rage, but also in love, in joy, and in celebration. Four generations of feminists came as witnesses to this moment.
